Galileo Galilei
The Father of Science

For the first scientifically critical observations of the Moon

Presented by the Leaning Tower of Pisa Astronomical Society

Galileo wasn't the first to observe the Moon through a telescope; Thomas Harriot created unpublished drawings and maps of the Moon's appearance through a telescope in 1609 to 1610.

Although Galileo lived and worked in Pisa, he probably never really dropped objects from the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which wasn't leaning as much then as it has since.
