Future of Space - MyMoon

NASA and MyMoon have teamed up to blog about everything lunar. Art, literature, music, movies, science, and everything in between!

All quiet on the twitter front.

FUTURE OF SPACE

I am now in Houston, and have a few weeks to spare before classes. So, if anyone sees a giant squirrel walking around Houston, it's probably me :).

As for my blog post, I was pondering the idea of space in the future. I have read many articles regarding using the Moon as a stepping stone to reach Mars. With all that in mind, we have all seen the futuristic movies where people are living in space on different planets and moons and speeding around in starships.

This leads me to the topic of this blog post, will the future of space involve civilizations on different celestial objects and using planets and moons as "rest stops". Comparatively, the West was along the same lines to people back in colonial times. I'm sure that they never thought that one day we would be able to travel across the country in less than a day via transportation through the air. This makes me wonder if one day, many generations down the line, people will be traveling back and forth from distance objects in the solar system in under a day to visit friends and family or to go to school, much like me.
