NASA and MyMoon have teamed up to blog about everything lunar. Art, literature, music, movies, science, and everything in between!
One of the many unexplored regions of our solar system is the far side of the moon. Everyone knows about the Apollo misions o the Moon. However, one thing that people may not know about the moon is that we always see the same side, and that this is the only side of the moon that has been explored. However, NASA is developing a rover that would be capable of exploring the far side of the moon. Exploring the far side of the moon would be a great feat as well as be amazing to learn about. However, there is much more to it than just learning what is there. The far side of the moon could work as a midway point between the Earth and asteroids, comets, planets, as well as other objects in our galaxy. With Telerobotic Antennas, as this following link talks about http://lunarscience.nasa.gov/articles/telerobotic-antenna-deployment/, these objects would be able to be explored and researched much easier. I could go into detail about this mission, however, it would be just as easy to go to this site and read about it.
I would like to know everyone's thoughts on this matter. Please comment below!

The Moon ain't what it used to be. People gush about asteroids, Mars, Jovian moons, exoplanets...but it feels like if you bring up the Moon, you mostly just get either a blank or a 'meh'. When ...
Today is Astronomy Day, and one of the best ways to celebrate is by going out and doing some stargazing. And one of the best ways to get started with stargazing is to use the Moon as a guide and ...
The mission of the Kepler Project is to discover habitable planets orbiting other stars. However, many of these planets are light years away and unreachable by humans with our current technology. So ...
Sorry for the late post everyone, has been a very busy week. But as for the topic of the week, I plan on talking about the exploration of the Moon, mainly the history and the alll of the lunar ...
The recent meteor explosion over Chelyabinsk, Russia helped bring to light a very real problem. We do not have adequate ways to detect many of the damage causing asteroids impacting the ...
I think that one of the first things that would come from a project like this would be a complete mapping of the moon. Also, it would be exactly like Columbus or Lewis & Clark, only difference is that it's the Moon and not Earth (and the dark side of the Moon at that).
personally, I think you should both stay away from 'the dark side' ;p
right? right? you know, starwars ?? no? anybody??
lol.
I am actually a huge Star Wars nerd...but in all honestly, I prefer the dark side lol. I'm more worried about running into some ridiculous transformers on the dark side of the moon....
The Dark Side is a pathway to many abilities some would consider to be...unnatural [giant robots]
Though this might be a more accurate source when talking about sides of the Moon...

Im going to be honest and say I only know of the transformers on the other side of the moon. I am curious about whether they would have lunar bases on the far or near side of the moon?

I find the lack of exploration of the far side of the Moon really exciting.
I totally want to be the first person to ever walk on the far side :D That's almost like being Columbus or Lewis & Clark or something---first people to reach an unreachable land.
One thing I want to see: a map of where the border ends. I've seen a lot of Moon globes, but still have no idea where one 'side' ends and the other begins.
